Hygienik fits exterior firesafe bay at expanding Scotts Packaging plant.

Hygienik Systems has converted a large external storage bay at Scotts Packaging into a foodsafe and firesafe enclosed space designed for storage, delivery and production.

Scotts Packaging, based in Featherstone, produces packaging for a range of national and international clients including Nestlé. This is the third planned expansion to their main plant.

Hygienik’s cost-effective solution used the existing steel framework of an external overhang and involved fitting robust 100mm Soundmaster panels which were up to 6 metres high.

In addition to creating a weather proof exterior in goose wing grey, Hygienik has installed a sliding, lockable door on the side elevation and incorporated a ramp giving direct access into the main plant.

The second phase of the project is the installation of an internal dividing wall which will create a 5m air lock. This will prevent access by birds and vermin to the new fully enclosed food safe workspace.

Hygienik’s MD, Tony Doherty is delighted with the project. “Scott’s was a project where our flexibility and experience came into play. We quickly established an external weatherproof skin using our Soundmaster system and then we used our many years’ experience of establishing hygienic internal environments for packaging and food-related companies.”
